At Kingsbury Living, our story begins with people, not a plan.
More than four decades ago, our founders were developing apartment communities across Ohio, focused on creating high-quality places for individuals and families to call home. Over time, something meaningful began to happen.
The residents who had chosen those communities weren’t just living there, they were building relationships. And as they grew older, they didn’t want to leave. They trusted the people who had built their homes.
Listening First
And they asked a simple question:
“What’s next for us?â€That question shaped everything that followed.
Rather than approaching senior living as a new business opportunity, our team approached it as a continuation of a relationship. The goal was not simply to build something new, but to build something meaningful for the people they already knew.
That led to the development of independent living communities designed to offer freedom, connection, and ease.
And as those same residents continued their journey, they asked again:
“This community means so much to us. How can we continue to call it home?â€That moment led to the thoughtful expansion into assisted living and memory care, ensuring that residents could remain in a community they trusted, surrounded by familiar faces and a sense of belonging.

Kingsbury Living is deeply rooted in Ohio, with leadership that has spent decades building, investing, and giving back to the communities they serve.
Our founders, including William Lemmon and the Dan DeHoff family, have long been involved in real estate development throughout Northeast Ohio, shaping neighborhoods, supporting economic growth, and investing in projects that strengthen the region.
Through philanthropic efforts and community partnerships, they have supported initiatives focused on housing, economic development, and improving the quality of life for residents throughout Stark County.
For them, this work has always been about more than buildings.
Their work extends beyond development.
It’s about people and the communities they call home.

Over the years, the team has been involved in the development of more than 25 senior living communities, along with thousands of residential units and a wide range of commercial properties.
That experience has provided perspective but more importantly, it has reinforced a simple belief:
The best communities are not just built. They are cared for.After stepping away from senior living development for a period of time, it became clear that the passion for serving older adults and the opportunity to do it thoughtfully, had never left.
